An exclusive from New York electro-rock group, KOPPS

Just a few weeks before they hit the road on a string of East Coast dates, we had some quick email conversations with Patricia Patrón of KOPPS. The group is releasing a new EP in the spring/early summer of 2020, string together with their unique sound self-described as “CrazySexyCreepy”. We’re happy to be debuting the lyric video for the third single off this EP, “Get Juicy,” with a little Q+A to accompany. Make sure to check out their latest video, a fruitful expression of their lyrical narrative.

I know ya'll are hitting the road — any city in particular you're most excited to play? Any plans to hit LA again soon?

Patricia: We’re very excited for the NYC show - we haven't played there in quite a while and I'm ready for NY to show me they can get rowdy at a show!!!!! I HAVE FAITH! THIS IS OUR HOME STATE LET'S FUCKING RAGE WORKAHOLICS.

Los Angeles is one of our favorite places to play. We are actually in the middle of figuring something out for an LA show this winter - pls stay tuned for deets. We are playing a bunch of East Coast dates as well this winter. Come to all of the dates by surfing to koppsmusic.com.

How would you describe the vibe in this latest release, your lyric video for "Get Juicy"? What inspired it?

There's nothing quite as sexual and non-sexual at the same time as fruit and manipulating it. We knew it wouldn't get banned from anything (this has been happening to us lately) but we could still make it suggestive all the same. Also, it's really satisfying to watch someone squish things as evidenced by countless Instagram ASMR and slime videos and fruit is no exception so there's really a little something to tickle everybody's senses here.

But for real talk, how many fruits were harmed in the creation of this video?

A LOT. It's important for me to talk about how this was all one take and I was kind of winging it and honestly, I was sweating bullets the whole time trying to get in all the fruit highlights I wanted to. I bought at least $100 worth of fruit from the world's number 1 grocery store, WEGMANS (probably coming to a town near you). At the end, I was a little disappointed in myself because I forgot about the blackberries as well as this dragonfruit I had, both of which would have looked fucking sick on cam. Anyway, I knew I wanted to conclude with the banana and baby bananas and Travis said "almost done" about the music and I was like "Oh shit I can't mess this up" because I literally used all my fruit and all of my money so I worked fast and everything came together as planned. Wow. Glad it's over.

Tell us a little bit about this upcoming EP, how does it differ from your previously released projects? What were some big inspirations for some of the tracks?

The songs are quite cohesive. ALL KILLER NO FILLER for sure, and very fun. We actually have music done beyond this EP as well but these songs really gel so we wanted to compile them. I would say there are less hard rock moments in this EP but it's still weird so don't worry 2 much.

Big inspirations, you say?

1) Technology. 2) Materialism. 3) Vanity. 4) Exclusivity. 5) Sex. 6) Cowpokes.

Where/how do you hope people will listen to it? Like if you had to create the most ideal setting for listening.

Definitely a huge house party where there are people are jumping off of a roof one by one like lil lemmings into a ball pit, but instead of balls there are just infinite water balloons filled with fire tingle lube and the lemmings are either sliding to their deaths or into a consensual and pleasurable sexual situation...either one is appropriate while using this EP as a soundtrack. Stream it bootleg it buy it sell it we don’t care much about that as long as people are LISTENING and LOVING it. Live Laugh Love.

Anything else you'd like to share?

1) We will stop at nothing.

2) I had too much coffee before answering these Qs.

3) TYSM.
