HUNNY

How have you been, really

Pretty emo as of late, tbh. It’s been hella hard to stay productive and inspired during all this.

How has quarantine affected the way you create? Are there any changes that surprised you? Anything that’s remained the same?

Hmmm, we haven’t seen each other since February so that’s a little different. We’ve pretty much all been self-quarantined and making demos individually. We usually get together and demo songs, but for now we’re all kinda doing our own thing.

Where have you been finding inspiration in isolation? And expanding on that, what’s the most random thing that has inspired you?

Inspiration has been coming and going. I had a dream last night that the boys and I were on the roller coaster goliath at six flags. I tried to channel that feeling into vibes on a demo. We’ll see how that comes out.

What does your typical day look like now?

Typical day goes as follows ~wake up~coffee~demo~video games~repeat. I know some of the other dudes have been surfing, so throw that in, after coffee, for a few of the day.

Have you picked up any new habits? (conscious or unconscious)

A terrible new habit I’ve gained is scrolling through tiktok. I never thought I would download it? It’s kinda mindless and awesome? A bad habit overall.

What do you find important right now? This can be as broad and world-effecting or as small and self-focused as you want.

I think it’s important right now to use our platform to boost human rights issues. donate! BLM! Defund the police! Register to vote!

As a musician unable to play live shows - how do you find yourself connecting with fans, now? How do you think this is impacting our experience of and relationship with music?

Thankfully our fans have always been super engaged with our socials and with us online, and some amazing opportunities for live stream shows have come our way so that’s been very cool.

What was the last selfish thing you did?

Honestly, I don’t know if it’s selfish but it’s for sure exclusively for me, and that’s that I smoked some weed and did a face mask and took a bath the other night.

Tell us about the last time you truly felt free.

Idk if I’ve ever felt truly free. Kinda sad lol. The closest thing for me would have to be before all of this and the past tours we did prior I went surfing all by myself early in the morning no-one was around anywhere. It was nice to be all alone and just connect with nature in that way and by the time I was done the rest of the world was waking up so to speak.

What’s something you’re proud of at the moment?

I’m very proud of our band and what we’ve accomplished. We have really built something unique and special and it’s very much us. Proud to call these guys my friends and creative partners, and often times my brothers.

What long term effects do you think this experience will have on you moving forward?

I hope to retain the sense of gratitude and self-awareness from this experience. Also, I’d love to remain in the playful headspace I’ve been in. Trying to stay in the moment and not trip on the future because it’s uncertain now more than ever, but isn’t it always?

What’s one thing you wish you would have done more of? One thing you will do more of after the pandemic has ended?

I don’t know that I wish I would have done anything more, but I do know that I will be meeting up with these guys after to work on music in person.
