Sir Sly & Joywave @ Royale

by Rickelle Hunt

Joywave and Sir Sly join forces on a legendary co-headline 2018 fall tour.

Rochester-based band Joywave took the Royale in Boston, MA. From the backdrop visuals to their hypnotising light show, you can really see the time and effort they put into their production, nailing every aspect for an unforgettable live performance. Joywave has flourished since releasing mixtapes ‘77777, ‘88888’ and EP ‘Koda Vista’, and their breakthrough albums ‘How Do You Feel Now?’ and ‘Content’ really show off their unique sound with passionate lyrics and intense vocals & instrumentals.

Their Boston setlist consisted of songs off both hit albums with tracks like, Traveling at the Speed of Light, Nice House, and Doubt. The band has recently been flaunting the 11th and final song of the album ‘Content’ with playing Let’s Talk About Feelings live for the first time.

Having Sir Sly open the co-headline show hyped the crowd up perfectly. The band has grown dramatically since the first time I witnessed them live, opening for The 1975 back in 2014. They’ve most recently been showing off their new album ‘Don’t You Worry, Honey’, including songs like High, &Run and Astronaut on the setlist.
