Odd To Me

Rochester, New York is my home base for the time being, but I try to leave school and my apartment as much as possible, whether that means exploring the top of the tallest building in the city or stealing away for a long weekend elsewhere. I suppose I always have a goal to photograph other people more than I do when I take my camera out, but I tend to end up stuck in my head and just snap pictures of my surroundings––In this case, Rochester, Montreal, Albany, and Chicago––with just a few of friends and strangers and always a self-portrait or two.

For someone who always aims to understand others, it's odd to me that I've always used photography much more to understand my own mind. The last few months have been a blur of focusing on anything but what I truly enjoyed, and getting this film back reminded me that I am still growing beneath the surface in ways that I want to.
