Lily Waters, the Los Angeles based psychedelic folk rock inspired band has recently released the music video for their latest single, “Big Star”. Fronted by singer-songwriter Gabbi Green and guitarist Robert Cifuentes, the group has utilized their talents to create a video that blends hazy ’70s aesthetics and soulfully gritty vocals to depict a scene of dream-like nostalgia.

In addition to Green’s vocals and Cifuentes on lead guitar, the band consists of Danny Deleon on drums and Seamus Blackwell on bass. Since the release of their 2018 single, “Darling”, Lily Waters have continued to develop their own unique sound that bridges the gap between pop and rock.

This genre blending style is evident in “Big Star” as the integration of classic rock influenced instrumentals juxtaposes the simplistically catchy lyrics. The repetition of the chorus, “You made it to L.A. / You’re gonna be a big big star someday / You'll make it to the top someway / You’re gonna be a big big star someday” encompases the optimism and struggle for success that so many musicians experience throughout their careers.

The dreamy filmography of the music video perfectly complements the lyrically charged idea of being a part of something more influential than oneself. Their genre defying sound is consistent throughout the video as the switch between film and modern camera work fuses the generational gap.

Lily Waters continues to experiment with their sound and has continued to evolve since their formation in 2017. Green has been invested in music since she was a child and her drive for musical success is just beginning.

The “Big Star” music video can be accessed on YouTube and the single can be found on Spotify, Apple Music, and other music streaming sites!
