Small Joys, Quiet Towns

by Zophia Dadlez

So much of the art sphere has its focus on big cities, but the way the cards fall I am usually hunkered down somewhere just below the radar of coastal folks and touring musicians and international news. I commit myself to school, which means staying in one or two places most of the time. But there is so much out there to see if you just look for it, even briefly. I will never understand the folks who complain about a place having nothing to do: there is always an exuberant joy to be found in the color of the sky and the connection with the people around me.

My Nowhere is not a transient state — it’s just off the map.
